Knowing Your Computer System Information
Sometimes it is very important to know the System Information about your PC. What is in the machine? What sort of Operating system (OS) is installed on the machine? How much RAM is installed on the machine? How much disk space is still available on the hard disk drive? What is the size of your HDD (Hard Disk Drive)?
Why fore do I ask those questions? This is a very simple answer... You would be the first person probably who never will have problems with your PC, and those questions are the questions which a technician will ask you first. So be prepared up from the beginning, this could save you money (telephone communications) and also a lot of nerves.
So, how to find out? What is a hard disk drive? These questions will now get answered here below...
What is a Hard Disk Drive?
A Hard Disk Drive (HDD) is a storage place located in your computer. All the data which you save will get stored at that specific place. So it is a very important part of your computer which is not living for eternity (life cycle 5-6 years) regarding the Computer Specialists, so take care of it. In an other episode of "Computer-HowTo" we will talk more about it...

How to Know Now the System Information?
As explained already above, you need to know your Computer System Information to be able answering some major questions from a technician, so let us go to find that precious information, it is actually very simple...
All Windows® PC got a special key on his keyboard, the "Windows-Key" which is located left-hand side below the keyboard.
By pressing simulate the "Windows-Key", close to the "Ctrl-Key", together with the "Break" Key (upper right corner of the keyboard), watch the orange arrows, you will see a new window opening.

Depending on your Operating System (OS) and which language is installed on your machine the window below will appear. In this example it is a Windows® XP machine where French is the initial language, but the image is the same as in English. Unfortunately I am not disposing for the moment a screenshot from an English version, but I will try to get one and then replace this one.
We will get a lot of information now:
- Operating System (Windows XP and service Pack (SP)
- Registred User Name
- OEM Version...
- PC Information and RAM: in this example it is a Pentium 4 with 3 GHz and 1 GB RAM

In Windows 7 there are even more information displayed, such as the "Windows Experience Index"...
In case of trouble with your PC you will now have all the necessary basic information to post on a forum and/or to talk to an technician ;-)
